I would like to hear Jim's presentation next week - I wonder if "rendevouz" works with Safari. The test says "your browser is not compatible", but all technical details tests (audio, camera) are OK, so maybe it works but is just not guaranteed to work.
I don't know. When I try it stalls on "Test d'accès à la salle de test RENdez-vous ...".
I tried it yesterday and it does not work. I believe it is not so that Safari would feature wise not support it (all individual feature tests pass), I think it is more so that there is a list of compatible browsers and Safari is just excluded from this. I installed Firefox then to join.
If someone has a good contact to the maintainers of this system (it looks like a French research thing), I would appreciate if (s)he could drop them a note. Possibly they tested this years back and then Safari had missing features and they never re considered since then.
Rendezvous is just the French research deployment of Jit.si FWIW. And it was recently updated to the latest version of Jit.si.
Thanks! I had a look at (https://github.com/jitsi/jitsi-meet/issues) and there are Safari specific issues so it does seem to work for some people - I will file an issue there.
It could also be the case that it's the Renater team that disabled Safari. So the first thing to check would be whether you can use the official instance at jit.si from Safari. If that's the case, then it's a Renater problem.
I tested meet.jit.si and this does work. So it seems to be a Renater issue. Is there a way to report issues to Renater for "outsiders"?
I don't know. I've opened an issue about this in my own name.
